Read More (About Motor Sports Vehicles)Commonly used for fun and leisure, motor sports vehicles also have lots of practical uses on farms and ranches. These vehicles provide quick navigation across rugged terrain, enabling access to remote areas that would otherwise be time-consuming or challenging to reach on foot or in a pickup.
Motor sports vehicles such as snowmobiles, utility vehicles, and ATVs can also transport equipment, tools, and supplies around the property when equipped with a cargo bed and/or paired with a trailer.
And, of course, when you’re done working you can use them to unwind and have some fun. From cruising the open road to flying along your favorite forest trail, motorcycles and go-karts offer excitement and adventure for thrill seekers.
Also known as “quads,” “four-wheelers,” and “quad bikes,” ATVs were originally designed for sport and recreation but quickly became adapted for use on farms and jobsites everywhere. ATVs have a straddle seat and handlebars for steering control. These one- or two-rider vehicles have a sturdy frame, low-pressure tires, and a suspension system that allows for smooth rides over rough terrain.
Similar in some ways to ATVs, utility vehicles have bona fide off-road capabilities. However, they differ in several aspects; for starters, they are equipped with a steering wheel and pedals for a car-like driving experience. UTVs also usually have a frame, cargo box, and other features that leave them more closely resembling jeeps or golf carts than ATVs. UTVs’ off-road capabilities and ability to haul and tow cargo makes myriad jobs around the farm or ranch easier to get to—and get done.
Snowmobiles, or “snow machines,” are vehicles specially designed to ride on snowy and icy terrain that would be much more difficult to traverse with an ATV, UTV, or a pickup. Rear tracks propel the snowmobile forward, while the front skis connect to a handlebar for the operator to steer. Snowmobiles come in various types, each suited for a different kind of use. Trail and touring models run better on designated trails, while mountain and utility models can handle off-trail riding on more demanding terrain.
Motorcycles, known for their agility and speed, come in a wide variety of model types with differing levels of performance and power. Cruiser and touring models are built to provide a comfortable ride, while sport bikes provide more acceleration and speed. Dirt bikes and other off-road models, equipped for rugged terrain, have knobby tires, high ground clearance, and specialized suspension systems.
Go-karts come in all shapes and sizes, from engineless Soap Box Derby karts to those built for driving on indoor tracks. Most go-karts are designed for recreational use with one or two seats, a roll cage, and a gas-powered engine or an electric motor. They also typically have smaller tires and lower ground clearance than similar vehicles.
