    About Massey Ferguson

Massey Ferguson has its roots in three companies dating back as far as 1847: the Newcastle Foundry and Machine Manufactory, founded by Daniel Massey, later known as Massey Manufacturing Company; A. Harris, Son & Co., founded by Alanson Harris; and Ferguson Co., founded by Harry Ferguson. These visionaries worked to improve farm implements, and later tractors, and introduced several industry firsts, including the 3-point hitch, a self-propelled combine, and the Autotronic and Datatronic Systems for better tractor control.

    Landmark Designs

From the earliest days when Massey introduced his mechanical thresher, Harris his self-tying binder, and Ferguson his 3-point hitch, Massey Ferguson has helped shape the cutting edge of agricultural technology.

In 1930, the Massey-Harris General Purpose tractor was among the first to offer four-wheel drive, and in 1937, the company introduced the first mass-produced, commercially viable self-propelled combines. Massey-Harris followed up the next year with the Model 101, which introduced an electric starter to the company’s tractors.

Ferguson released his most successful tractor design, the TE20, in 1946, which remained in production until 1956. Nicknamed “the Little Grey Fergie,” the TE20 was small, lightweight, and versatile. It was equipped with Ferguson’s 3-point hitch system and by 1950, had some 60 available implements.

One of the biggest successes for the company post-merger came in 1986 with the release of the Massey Ferguson 3000 Series, which featured an Autotronic electronic “brain” that automated 16 functions, including diff-lock, headland turning, and 4WD engagement. The series was also the first to have the Datatronic in-cab computer.

    Joining Agco

Agco, which purchased the production rights to Massey Ferguson in the early 1990s, offers a full line of Massey Ferguson tractors for sale, from its MF 1526 compact tractor with 24.8 horsepower (18.5 kilowatts) to the high-horsepower row crop MF 8700 S series, which tops out at 400 HP (298 kW).

Massey Ferguson hay and forage equipment for sale includes windrowers and attachments, draper headers, disc headers, sickle headers, triple mowers, mower conditioners, disc mowers, square balers, round balers, rakes, and tedders.

The Massey Ferguson product lineup also includes axial rotary combines; draper, corn, pick-up, and flex heads; manure spreaders; and mowers. The manufacturer even offers a full line of landscaping tools such as blades, scrapers, landscape rakes, and seeders. Massey Ferguson precision farming tools help with efficient planning, field preparation, growing, harvest, and grain storage and monitoring.
