MacDon Launches New C Series Corn Headers
MacDon has introduced a new C Series of corn headers for sale in six-, eight-, and 12-row configurations with 30-inch and 20-inch row spacing. In addition to chopping and non-chopping variations available for all configurations, the 8- and 12-row configurations with 30-inch spacing include a folding option for field-to-field transport. Overall, more than 15 variations featuring various options are available.
Managing Residue
MacDon says it placed a strong emphasis on corn agronomy when designing the headers, especially where residue management is concerned. The company says a one-pass process enables the headers to create the type of well-conditioned/chopped and evenly distributed residue that is needed for accurate seed depth and seed placement to maximize crop yields.
The C Series headers use a process employing four point-to-point carbide knives and four serrated edges bolted on the snapping rolls to crimp stalks every 3 inches (7.62 centimeters). MacDon claims the process quickens the rate of microbial breakdown, leading to decomposition in less than half the time required with typical corn header use. MacDon says it positioned the headers’ front-mounted chopper, which operates at 2,800 rpm, near the underside of the rolls to provide “the shortest, most consistent residue size.”
Snout Design
The C Series headers come with a rotary end divider option that helps lift downed crop. A stubble stomper option helps cut down on tire and track wear and tear. The header snouts, meanwhile, feature a teardrop design with ribbed shape that strengthens snout structure, generates less drag for smoother material flow, and minimizes ear bounce. MacDon is offering the snouts and dividers in red, green, and yellow colors, as well as white to enhance visibility when used at night.
MacDon—which also manufactures windrowers, pull hay mowers, and pickup, disc, draper, and auger headers—says the C Series headers will fit combines from most major brands. You’ll find a huge selection of new and used MacDon ag equipment for sale every day at TractorHouse.com, including hundreds of combine headers.
