Read More (About Simplicity)Simplicity manufactures multiple series of lawn and garden tractors and zero-turn mowers equipped with technologies and systems that the company has developed over the years. Simplicity’s lineup of outdoor power equipment also includes 2-stage snowblowers, with models available for home and commercial use.
In 2022, Simplicity celebrated the 100th anniversary since William Niederkorn founded the company. Allis-Chalmers purchased Simplicity in 1965, but Simplicity’s management team reacquired the company from Allis-Chalmers in 1983. Since 2004, Briggs & Stratton has owned Simplicity, and you’ll find its engines in many Simplicity mowers and snowblowers.
Niederkorn started the Simplicity Manufacturing Company in Port Washington, Wisconsin, to produce engines for mechanical boring machines. The company changed focus in 1936 and began manufacturing garden tractors, starting with the Model A. Nearly two decades later, Simplicity introduced its first dedicated riding mower, the 3.6-horsepower (2.6-kilowatt) Wonder Boy. The release of the 6-HP (4.4-kW) Broadmoor lawn tractor followed in 1964.
Simplicity’s first zero-turn mower came in 1990 when it joined forces with Middlesworth Engineering to make commercial models featuring a patented hydro-steer design and exclusive steering wheel control. In 2013, the manufacturer introduced its Prestige garden tractor with a rear suspension, smoothing out the ride for operators and improving cut quality even at faster mowing speeds. Today, Simplicity’s Suspension Comfort System is available on the Prestige as well as the Broadmoor and Conquest mower families, which boast front and rear suspensions.
As of the early 2020s, the Simplicity lawn and garden range includes the Broadmoor, Conquest, Prestige, and Regent models. In addition to Briggs & Stratton engines, the mowers variously provide features such as push-button starting, electric cut height adjustment, and hydraulic tractor attachment lift capability. The tractors are compatible with numerous attachments, including a mulching kit, grass catcher, tiller, dump cart, and dethatcher.
As of 2023, the Simplicity zero-turn mower lineup includes the Citation XT, Cobalt, Cobalt LE, Contender XT, Courier, and Courier XT model families. The Cobalt LE has Simplicity’s largest cutting deck and is powered by a commercial-grade Vanguard Big Black V-Twin engine rated for 37 gross HP (27.5 kW). The models include features like foot-operated deck height control, LED lighting, and more.
In 2022, Simplicity announced the zero-emission BlueVolt CZ1 electric zero-turn mower powered by a 48-volt Vanguard lithium-ion battery available with a 42- or 48-inch (107- to 122-centimeter) deck.
Simplicity lawn and garden tractors include technologies that enhance cutting performance, operator comfort, and machine control. Exclusive Free Floating mower decks and roller systems closely follow ground contour for a high-quality cut while producing baseball park-like striping.
The Suspension Comfort System reduces the impact the operator feels while mowing by 25% compared to traditional mowers without suspension, Simplicity claims. Automatic Controlled Traction supplies extra power to both rear tires if one tire starts to slip. The company’s Quick Hitch Deck Removal System lets users remove the deck without tools for maintenance or cleaning, or to use an attachment.
As of this writing, Simplicity snowblowers are available in two-stage Select Series, Signature, and Signature Pro Professional Duty models. The snowblowers have features such as the SnowShredder Auger, serrated and designed to tackle compacted snow and ice, and the Velocity Throwing System, which the company says throws snow up to 40% farther.
TractorHouse.com has hundreds of listings for new and used Simplicity lawn mowers and snowblowers for sale, including riding and zero-turn mowers like Broadmoor, Conquest, Courier, Prestige, and Regent models.
