Meridian History

In 1965, Meridian launched its first SmoothWall steel hopper bin in rural Manitoba while operating under the Friesen brand. The smooth bins became the preferred alternative to the traditional corrugated variety.

Wheatland Bins, a subsidiary of Friesen, opened in Lethbridge, Alberta, in 1979. Throughout the 1980s, the company continued expansion across North America, opening additional manufacturing facilities and sales offices in the U.S. and Canada.

In 2002, WGI Westman Group began the acquisition of Friesen and its subsidiaries. All operations merged and became known as Meridian Manufacturing Group in 2007.

Meridian’s products are designed to meet a variety of customer needs. Their products are known for their durability, advanced features, and efficient performance.

SmoothWall steel bins, the longest-standing Meridian product, are designed without internal bolts and ribs; avoiding these traditional obstructions allows for safer, more efficient unloading. Meridian offers some of its bins with an internal powder coat finish that the manufacturer says reduces bridging and spoilage.

Meridian’s seed tenders provide convenient, efficient transportation and distribution of seeds during planting. These tenders feature gentle seed-handling mechanisms, bulk-carrying capacities, and precise metering systems.

Heavy-duty augers manufactured by Meridian can accommodate any farm or milling grain operation. The frame design allows for better weight distribution, easy maneuverability, and stability.
