Read More (About SeedMaster)SeedMaster is a family-owned manufacturer of specialized seeding and metering equipment and technologies. Although established in 2002, the Saskatchewan-based company’s roots date to 1991 when Norbert Beaujot, company president and founder, began developing the “first active-hydraulic, terrain-following, individual row opener” in an effort to create a better method for precisely seeding crops in a no-till approach. Besides openers, SeedMaster manufactures SeedMaster Toolbars in compact and wide M-fold configurations, the Nova Air Cart System, and UltraPro on-frame tanks. The company also provides a number of technology-based solutions such as the XeedSystem precision-seeding platform, the patented Overlap Control system using Auto Zone Command and FLIP (Full Last Implement Pass) software, and the AXIS 360 Mobile Monitoring system that works with the SeedMaster Axis tablet. In 2014, Beaujot also launched the DOT Technology Corp., a sister company to SeedMaster that’s developing an autonomous power platform for farm implements.
With a company motto of “We’re Farmers Too,” SeedMaster says it uses its products “on our own farms.” Beaujot, in fact, was a farmer and professional engineer when he began conceptualizing his active-hydraulic opener in 1991. After founding Seed Hawk with his brother, Pat Beaujot, in 1992, the Beaujot built a prototype they used to seed 1,000 acres on their family farm. Norbert Beaujot eventually left Seed Hawk to establish SeedMaster in 2002. Seed Hawk is now a wholly owned Väderstad company that’s been renamed “Väderstad Industries.”
Before Beaujot converted his family farm to the SeedMaster Research Farm in 2006 to create a 3,000-acre research facility where SeedMaster now runs trials and tests its equipment, SeedMaster opened its first production facility in 2004. In 2011, the company introduced its Auto Zone Command technology, and the next year it released the M100, North America’s first 100-foot-wide seeding system.
With air drill toolbars that measure up to 100 feet (30.5 meters) wide, SeedMaster claims it offers the largest air drills in North America, allowing growers to seed more acres per day. Using the M-fold design along with SeedMaster’s patented Active Wing Brace, the company’s air drills can fold up to transport widths of roughly 19 to 26 ft (5.8 to 7.9 m).
SeedMaster says its first opener model “started a revolution in seeding technology.” The dual-knife opener works to precisely and safely place seed and fertilizer in a consistent, shallow bed for better access to nutrients. The opener also incorporates a patented Residue Deflector that SeedMaster says leaves behind minimal residue, leaving the soil to warm up much faster so crops emerge more quickly.
TractorHouse.com offers a number of SeedMaster machines for sale every day, including new and used air seeders and air carts as well as planting equipment from Väderstad.
