Kubota History

In 1890, 19-year-old Gonshiro Ohde started up Ohde Casting in the corner of a tenement house in Osaka. As the business expanded, Ohde began casting machinery parts and iron waterwork pipes. Toshiro Kubota, impressed by Gonshiro Ohde's dedication to iron pipe production, adopted Gonshiro as his son, and the pair renamed Ohde Casting Iron Works to Kubota Iron Works.

In the first part of the 20th century, Kubota expanded its product line to include engines and machinery. The company’s ZL-series oil-cooled engines became popular in Japan. Despite the challenges of rebuilding after World War II, Kubota entered the construction equipment industry in 1953 and developed the first Japanese farm tractor for sale in 1960.

Kubota entered the international market in the mid-20th century, introducing its sub-compact tractor line in the U.S. in 1972. Kubota’s compact diesel tractors were highly rated for their usability and performance, and the company became established in the American market.

Product Lines

Kubota’s agricultural line covers a range of tractors for sale, including four-wheel drive compact utility tractors, models for light construction and light farm work, all-purpose agriculture tractors, and backhoe and loader tractors.

Kubota’s product line also includes mowers, utility vehicles, and construction equipment. Popular mower models include the T Series, F Series, and Z Series, and walk-behind mowers featuring Hydro-Gear drive systems. Kubota launched its first utility vehicles, the RTV Series, in 2004.

Kubota manufactures compact and mid-size excavators suitable for applications from landscaping to trenching. Kubota’s skid steers are known for their maneuverability and compatibility with a wide range of attachments.
