Soichiro Honda founded the Honda Technical Research Institute in 1946 following World War II with the intent to manufacturer internal combustion engines and machine tools. In 1947, Honda turned out its first original product with the Honda-A-Type engine. The company would release its first tiller, the F150, in 1959, selling 20,000 units that year. 1978 saw the release of the HR21, the company’s first walk-behind lawnmower.
