    About Chainsaws

Chainsaws are portable, motorized saws designed primarily to cut down trees, but that are used for a variety of tasks, including creating wood and ice sculptures, cutting through concrete, and more. They largely run on gasoline or electrical power, but there are also battery-powered models available.

    Husqvarna 455 Rancher

A chainsaw’s cutting mechanism, which comprises a guide bar and a chain with teeth, will vary in length from chainsaw to chainsaw, which makes some models better suited to certain applications than others. Modern chainsaws come equipped with a variety of built-in safety features, including hand guards, chain catchers, throttle trigger lockouts, and others. Many also have a chain brake designed to stop the machine in the event of a kickback.

    Special Features

Some manufacturers include extra features designed to make chainsaws easier and more comfortable to control. For example, the Husqvarna 455 Rancher features LowVib technology that cuts down on vibration levels in order to reduce operator fatigue, as well as the company’s X-Torq technology to improve fuel efficiency and reduce exhaust emissions.

The Stihl MS 250, which the company refers to as a “homeowner saw” and is designed for cutting firewood, is equipped with a Winter/Summer Shutter, which automatically adjusts the carburetor so the chainsaw operates smoothly in all seasons and temperatures.
