    About New Holland

With more than 125 years of experience, New Holland has long been one of the biggest names in farm equipment manufacturing. Founded in 1903 as the New Holland Machine Company, it started by manufacturing agricultural equipment such as innovative horse-drawn threshing machines and quickly became known for innovation thanks to its introduction of self-tying balers, Twin Rotor combines, and the first hydrostatic transmission on a tractor.

Today, New Holland offers a comprehensive lineup of farm equipment, including tractors, hay and forage equipment, planting equipment, harvesting solutions, and precision farming solutions.

    New Holland History

Abe Zimmerman opened an equipment repair shop in 1895 in New Holland, Pennsylvania, and made the town his company’s namesake. In 1903, the company officially incorporated as the New Holland Machine Company and sold stock to local farmers to boost capital for a new building. Throughout the 1920s, the company prospered as it produced feed mills, crushers, and quarry machines.

When the Great Depression hit, the company nearly went under as many farmers faced financial devastation. The company needed a product to increase sales. In 1940, New Holland acquired the rights to build the self-tying Nolt baler.

By 1946 New Holland products included tractor saws, saw frames, husker-shellers, limestone pulverizers, roll crushers, jaw crushers, hammer crushers, belting, cement mixers, and power units. The manufacturer’s success attracted the attention of the Sperry Corporation, which acquired New Holland in 1947.

New Holland’s technology was heavily influenced by the companies it merged with or acquired. The company acquired Claeys in 1964, merged with Ford Motor Company in 1986, and then merged with FiatAgri in 1991. Today, New Holland is a brand of multinational equipment corporation CNH Global.

    Product Lines

New Holland revolutionized haymaking with the first automatic self-tying baler and has since grown into one of the world’s leaders in hay and forage technology. The manufacturer offers more than 30 models of balers and other hay tools, such as windrowers, disc mowers, tedders, rakes, bale wagons, and forage harvesters.

The company also claims to build one out of every five combines sold globally, including New Holland Twin Rotor combines, a world’s-first technology launched in 1975, in addition to elevation combines, headers, and grape and olive harvesters.

Other New Holland farm equipment for sale includes a full line of tractors, ranging from 24-horsepower (18-kilowatt) Boomer compact tractors to the T9.700 4-wheel-drive tractor, which boasts peak engine power of 682 HP (509 kW); front- and rear-boom sprayers; air carts, air hoe drills, and air disk drills; and more.

    A Sustainable Future

New Holland has earned a reputation as a clean energy leader by promoting renewable fuels, emissions reduction systems, and sustainable technology. By providing farmers with innovative technology, New Holland enables them to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels.

In 2021, New Holland partnered with Il Raccolto farm in Bologna, Italy, to create the first New Holland smart farm. This partnership demonstrates sustainable farming through a circular economy model and supports the company’s research and development of environmentally sustainable agriculture equipment.
