Relatively few companies that are still in business today can claim to have actually invented a category of machinery, let alone one that helped transform an entire industry when it was introduced. But that’s the case for Hustler Turf Equipment, which helped usher in the era of the zero-turn mower.

John Regier built a zero-turn mower, appropriately named the Hustler, and sold the patent to a company called Excel, which in turn started manufacturing them at a plant in Hesston, Kansas in 1964. Since then, the company has continued to sell zero-turn mowers for residential and commercial applications as well as diesel side-by-side utility vehicles.

Hustler’s line of residential zero-turns includes the Raptor, Raptor Limited, Raptor SD, Raptor SDX, Raptor Flip-Up, and FasTrak. The commercial line of zero-turns features the FasTrak SDX, X-One, Super Z, Super Z HyperDrive, TrimStar, Hustler Z Diesel, Super S, and Super 104. Each of these different models offers unique features, including varying welded steel deck and tire sizes. So depending on the task at hand, you’ll find a configuration that will get the job done.
