This tractor and I have been partners for 8 years. Bought her summer 2018 at 4,845 hours, she's at 5,379 now. Every pond, every stump pulled, every foundation demolished, every fence post, every yard of dirt and mulch moved, every utility line trenched, every retaining wall, every lawn graded and seeded, the driveway itself, she did it with me. Not a flip. A working homestead tractor being sold by the guy who worked her.
1982, serial 434727. Strictly mechanical diesel. No DEF, no electronics, no regen, no sensors to strand you. Fix her with hand tools and the service manual. Starts almost immediately when warm. Cold mornings take some cranking and blow white smoke until she's warm, normal for a mechanical diesel without an intake heater. On the sub zero mornings, a little ether helps. No smoke under load.
Work done because she earns her keep:
Outer hydraulic pump replaced first, trying to avoid a split
When that didn't solve it, summer 2025 she went to the shop for a split. Inner pump rebuilt. Full driveline inspected while apart: differential, wet brakes, clutch, all good
New injectors and injection pump
New starter and alternator
Beet juice ballast in the rears
Let's be honest about her quirks. The 3-point position and draft control was worn out when I got her, so I pulled the internal rocker shaft valving to get pump power to the loader and hoe. 3-point now goes full up, full down, holds mid with a steady hand and rpm. Fine for drop-and-drag. Not for set-depth implements.
Loader and hoe control valves are original 1982 and worn. Both drift when parked loaded, so you park with implements down. I built a permanent fabricated hydraulic manifold distributing closed-center pump flow to the loader, the hoe, and a spare aux set at 1/2 ISO couplers. Ball valves on the loader and hoe supply isolate one circuit at a time so full pump flow goes where you're working. Two hoe cylinders replaced, others weep. Tires old and mismatched, hold air, hold ballast, good for another 8 years.
Included: Paper service manuals.
For serious buyers I also have a new in the box winch with fabricated front mount plate. And a 12" 3 point post hole auger.
