LandMark Implement Sees Success With Sandhills Global Solutions
John Deere dealer LandMark Implement operates a network of 14 dealership locations throughout Nebraska and Kansas. With roots dating to 1947, LandMark offers John Deere’s full line of new farm equipment, as well as used farm machinery, compact construction equipment, UTVs, precision-ag systems, attachments, and implements from John Deere and other leading brands.
We recently sat down with LandMark Implement Corporate Sales Manager Troy Lorenzen to learn how the company uses market data, analytics tools, print and digital marketing, and other Sandhills Global products to help support its business.
A Unique Customer Base
LandMark Implement’s customers include farmers, livestock operations, landscapers, construction companies, and homeowners. Lorenzen says the customer base is more unique than what is typically found in today's marketplace.
“Our guys are making the decisions,” he says. “They’re driving the tractors. They’re running the combines. There are no real huge conglomerations. It’s just the family farm and kind of the whole staple of U.S. agriculture. It’s neat to get to deal with the customer who, when you sell him a new tractor, is the guy who runs it most likely.”
Reaching Niche Equipment Buyers
LandMark Implement advertises for-sale assets in various editions of TractorHouse magazine, making use of priority-page ads on the front cover, as well as placement in the Eastern and Western issues of NeedTurfEquipment magazine. While TractorHouse is Sandhills’ flagship platform for buyers and sellers of all kinds of farm equipment, NeedTurfEquipment is a highly effective tool for showcasing a subset of ag equipment—namely, new and used turf equipment. The platform targets landscapers, turf management professionals, and golf course managers.
“NeedTurfEquipment magazine has done leaps and bounds in opening up our used market with the turf equipment and small tractor business,” says Lorenzen. “It’s grown our business from that side and helped the used channel of that equipment.”
Supporting Daily Processes
LandMark Implement uses other Sandhills Global products to support its daily processes, as well, including monthly Sandhills Global Market Reports and VIP+. Lorenzen says Sandhills Market Reports help ensure the dealership is headed in the right direction.
VIP+, Sandhills’ market-leading valuation solution for farm machinery, construction equipment, commercial trucks, and trailers, helps LandMark avoid consulting four or five different resources to get a good feel for where the market is. Lorenzen explains that VIP+ provides “a lot of really useful information in one spot,” which can lead to faster transaction times.
