Bourgault FMS Combines Steel Air Seeder Tank With Coulter Drill Or Hoe Drill System

Built as a self-contained unit with an air seeder tank and independent seeding drill, Bourgault’s new FMS (Frame Mounted Seeder) strikes a balance between productivity and ease of use. FMS models are available in independent coulter drill (CD) and hoe drill (HD) versions in bushel capacities up to 200. Both the coulter and hoe drills operate independently of the 5- x 5-foot (1.5- by 1.5-meter) fixed frame, and the FMS tanks feature the Bourgault KNEX inter-tank system that allows all three main tanks to meter individually. The tanks can also be combined to meter as one by simply removing the interconnect tank door.

Coulter Drill Options

The FMS Independent CD models versions are designed to provide precise seed placement while maintaining seedbed integrity. The latter is the result of the low-disturbance coulter disk, which creates a narrow trench, and Bourgault’s LDx Low Disturbance Scraper that places the seed and fertilizer at the base of the coulter cut. The coulter drill models are available in either 20- or 26-ft (6- or 8-m) working widths.

Hoe Drill Systems

Operators can configure HD models with either Bourgault’s PHD Seed Opener Assembly (2:1 contour ratio) or the XTC Seed Opener Assembly (1:1 contour ratio). All models boast the ParaLink Arm design that maintains the opener's attack angle regardless of its position or seed opener tip. The hoe drill models are available in either 20- or 26-ft working widths.

Air Seeder Features

The FMS units feature a BulkBoom for convenient bulk bag handling. Operators can use BulkBoom to fill the FMS tanks with up to 2,200 pounds (998 kilograms) of mini-bulk—helping to reduce the need for a front-end load or forklift in the field. The 20-ft FMS models unfold into a rigid continuous bar, while the 26ft models can be equipped with an optional running gear on the wing to operate as a three-plex bar.
