John Deere recently released a 19-1 software update it says will further enhance automation, documentation, functionality, and security on Deere Generation 4 4600 CommandCenter and 4640 Universal displays. Additionally, Deere says the software provides a higher level of automation activation that enables Machine Sync harvest automation functionality on the Gen 4 platform for tractors and combines.

    Update Features

John Mishler, John Deere marketing manager for precision ag technologies, says that in addition to enabling Gen 4 Display compatibility with more Deere equipment, including Deere 8000 and 9000 Series forage harvesters, the 19-1 update enables documenting weather and field conditions, expands AutoTrac functionality and automation on more equipment, and adds more security levels.

Specifically, the update enables Gen 4 displays to now show operators the area remaining and estimated time to completion for various field operations and doubles the legend colors on the display such that operators can view yield, prescriptions, and as-applied maps in more detail. Operators can also document weather and field conditions manually from the cab, use AutoTrac Turn Automation and AutoTrac Implement Guidance with SeedStar 4 during planting, and apply a four-digit PIN to secure Deere displays and receivers.

John Deere’s John Mishler says the company’s Machine Sync feature, which Deere recently updated, “has proven to speed up harvest operations and reduce grain loss and stress on both the combine and grain cart operators during this busy time, especially when harvesting at night or when visibility is compromised." Get In Sync

Where Machine Sync is concerned, Deere notes the feature “synchronizes tractor and grain cart speed and position with the combine for on-the-go unloading during harvest.” New technology that Gen 4 Machine Sync uses is already integrated into all S700 combines and is “available at a much lower total solution cost than with previous” display generations, Deere says. The Gen 4 Machine Sync application lets operators use In-Field Data Sharing to wirelessly share guidance lines, coverage maps, machine location, grain tank level, and unloading auger status among machines.
